Edge of Me Photography was founded by Liz Brown in 2009.
Even in her childhood, Liz gravitated towards the arts, particularly painting and drawing. It was not until college that she discovered photography. While living in Chicago, she would take long walks, exploring the city and taking glimpses of hidden places back with her on her camera.
This desire to find beauty in unlikely places is the same approach Liz takes to every photo shoot, whether that be of a hardcore band, of a engaged couple, or of a forgotten side street of Europe. In some places beauty is more obvious, such as a couple in love, but she also strives to show beauty in the ordinary, flawed, unusual, broken, and imperfect.
There is a joy in being surprised, in seeing beauty where you had not seen it before, a change in perspective, a story told by a different character. The photographer is the narrator, and the photo is the story.
Now Liz lives and works n Des Moines, Iowa, but travels, as well, both stateside and internationally. She desires not only to be a photographer, but a storyteller, because your story is valuable and beautiful.
